Thank you for visiting CureRock.org!  We are very excited to be working on the this year's event.  We are excited just as much to be debuting our new website this year as well.

CureRock was held for the first time in 2012.  However, the idea for CureRock started several years earlier.  Caring for and supporting patients with cancer has long been a priority.  However, we became even more interested in engaging the AYA oncology community after meeting dozens of amazing survivors, advocates, and wonderful individuals as part of the LIVESTRONG Young Adult Alliance.  The Alliance, now known as Critical Mass, held yearly conferences in Austin, Texas for the AYA community to meet, network, and make plans to improve the care of this special population.

Much like Austin, the City of Pittsburgh has a vibrant and dynamic independent music culture.  We have been fortunate to meet and get to know many of these wonderful artists and people.  Not that long ago, a number of these groups compiled an album of local favorites and held a concert, called The Key Party, that celebrated the communal and artistic spirits of the city.

Motivated by both of these scenes, we sought to create an event that would be for and by the community.  CureRock was created as a concert, a fundraiser, and an information fair.  We wanted the community to come together to have fun, hear some great music, and learn about cancer resources and support.

Cancer affects many, many people.  Despite this, it can be a lonely struggle.  We hope CureRock serves as a source of enjoyment and fun in a time of stress.  Check out the bands on the pages for each of our past and current shows.  We also hope CureRock is a great source of information, empowerment, and support for all that visit.  There are many wonderful organizations that provide help to patients, survivors, family, friends, and health care providers in the fight against cancer.  Spend some time on our resources page to find links to many of these organizations.

CureRock is now 3 years old and we are actively growing.  Our fundraising supports the pediatric and AYA oncology programs at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.  Our mission remains the same - to support and educate in the fight against cancer.  Our inspiration and audience remain the same too - CureRock is for and by the community.  As we grow, though, our community grows too - the local community, the oncology community, the advocacy community, the AYA community, the pediatric community, the health care community ... everyone is welcome.

If you're here, you're part of our community.  Thanks for visiting and we hope to see you at our next show.
